How Essential Oil Works?

Essential oils work on our body in different ways. We can use essential oils in 3 ways by applying on the skin, inhalation and ingested. Essential oils application skin is so much effective like blend of black pepper or ginger essential oil is useful to reduce arthritis pain and improve flexibility. German chamomile essential oil is used to treat eczema etc. Essential oils are absorbed by our skin as when we massage essential oil on our skin it enhances the blood circulation for that area to carry the absorbed ingredients of essential oils. Even on applying essential oils on skin, the sweat glands and hair follicles like genitals, head, soles, palms becomes more active and absorb the essential oil and mix up in the blood stream.

Another effective way of using essential oil is inhalation. There are many useful and effective essential oils like eucalyptus and peppermint. Eucalyptus is inhaled when you suffer from cough. It is most effective to release your cough and gives you relief. Same way peppermint is used to reduce fatigue or nausea. The olfactory system includes all physical organs or cells relating to, or contributing to, the sense of smell. When we inhale through the nose, airborne molecules interact with the olfactory organs and, almost immediately, the brain. Inhaled molecules through nose or mouth are carried to lungs and interact with the respiratory system. Thus it affects by several ways. During inhalation, odor molecules travel through the nose and affect the brain through a variety of receptor sites, one of which is the limbic system, which is commonly referred to as the emotional brain. Essential oils are used in various industries for manufacturing aromatherapy oils, fragrance oil and perfume oils.

The third way to apply essential oils on body through ingestion. Ingestion is swallowing process in body but this method is not recommended and even not in use in major country. As this method is risky method which can be performed under the supervision of expert physician only, who is having good knowledge of essential oils and their effects on our body. As there are many reactions of essential oils in our body like some essential oils are toxic to our liver and kidney. Even the breakdown of chemical composition of these essential oils during gastric process may generate harmful carcinogens which may adversely affect our body if not taken under the observation of essential oils experts. Thus essential oils are very useful in various ways to our body by the above methods.
